Bracket SymbolsCopy and Paste 【】
Copy a matching pair for a label, quotation or expression, or choose an opening or closing character on its own. Brackets that look similar can have different codes and different roles in text, mathematics and programming.
Matching Bracket Pairs
Each card copies both the opening and closing character. Expand the bottom copy bar and edit the saved pair to insert your text.
Basic Parentheses, Brackets & Braces
The ordinary ASCII characters used in many writing and programming contexts.
Corner & East Asian Brackets
Opening and closing marks used in East Asian punctuation and decorative labels.
Mathematical Brackets, Floors & Ceilings
Distinct characters for mathematical grouping and operations.
Fullwidth Brackets
Wider variants for typography that specifically needs fullwidth characters.
Choose the Correct Pair
Keep each opening mark with its intended closing mark.
| Pair | Type | Writing note |
|---|---|---|
| ( ) | Parentheses | Common grouping in prose and expressions |
| [ ] | Square brackets | Annotations, grouping and language-specific syntax |
| { } | Curly braces | Sets or language-specific blocks |
| ⟨ ⟩ | Mathematical angle brackets | Different characters from < and > |
| ⌈ ⌉ / ⌊ ⌋ | Ceilings / floors | Use the matching operation in a formula |
Work With Matching Brackets
Use decorative brackets for text, and the exact required characters for syntax or notation.
Copy a complete pair
Copy 【】, expand the bottom copy bar and edit the saved pair. Insert a label between the marks, save the change, then copy the edited item, such as 【Notes】.
Use the right characters in code
Fullwidth [] and decorative 【】 are different from ASCII []. A programming language may reject them where it expects ordinary brackets.
Separate angles from comparisons
The mathematical angle bracket ⟨ is U+27E8. The less-than sign < is U+003C. Choose the one that matches the notation rather than its visual resemblance.

Bracket Symbols FAQ
How do I copy both brackets together?
Use a card in Matching Bracket Pairs. The two characters are copied in opening-then-closing order. Expand the bottom copy bar and edit the saved pair to insert your own text.
Why does a decorative bracket break my code?
Programming syntax often requires a specific ASCII character. Decorative and fullwidth brackets have different Unicode codes even when they look similar.
Are ⟨ and < the same?
No. ⟨ is MATHEMATICAL LEFT ANGLE BRACKET, U+27E8. < is LESS-THAN SIGN, U+003C. Their roles and text identities are different.
How do I add text inside a copied bracket pair?
Copy a pair such as 【】, expand the bottom copy bar and choose Edit on that saved item. Type a label between the marks, then save the change. The result might be 【Notes】 or 【 Notes 】, depending on your spacing.
Are fullwidth parentheses the same as ordinary parentheses?
No. ( and ) are U+FF08 and U+FF09. Ordinary ( and ) are U+0028 and U+0029. Fullwidth forms use different characters and can behave differently in code, search or text matching.
